It's Teaser Tuesday, a bookish blog meme hosted every week by MizB of Should Be Reading. Here's how it works:
Grab your current read and let it fall open to a random page (or if you're reading on an electronic device, pick a random number and scroll to that section). Post two or more sentences from that page, along with the book title and author. Share your find with others in the comments at Should Be Reading, and don't give anything vital away!
“Conor sat up straight on the settee, breathing heavily again.
12:07, read the clock.
‘Dammit!’ Conor said. ‘Am I dreaming or not?'
He stood up angrily –
And immediately stubbed his toe.”
p. 64 of Patrick Ness & Siobhan Dowd’s A Monster Calls
This one of my all-time favorites!! It made me bawl like a baby. I hope you enjoy it like I did. :) Here's my teaser for this week:

I hate when that happens.
ReplyDeleteO this sounds good. And leaves me very curious.
ReplyDeleteHere is my Teaser Tuesday :)
I'd guess he's not dreaming. kaye—the road goes ever ever on

Great teaser! Ouch about the last line, I didn't quite expect that xD Thanks for dropping by my blog earlier! =)
ReplyDeleteAnything to do with stubbing toes ... I can definitely relate to, LOL. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHa ha. Great teaser! If he stubbed his toe, I guess he's not dreaming. :D Thank you! And thank you for stopping by the blog today. :)
ReplyDeleteThe whole immediately stubbing his toe thing sounds all too familiar to me. I am a danger to myself and others first thing in the AM. My husband and my cat mostly try to stay out of my way until I've some coffee and become more coherent.
ReplyDeleteGreat teaser.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure about this book though. Might give it a try if I ever come across it, but won't seek it out.
I just read this one and I loved it! I hope you enjoy the rest.
ReplyDeleteGotta hate stubbing the toe, although it sounds like he might have more serious problems to worry about. Wicked cover, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by for our TT.
Cool teaser! This is another author I need to try. If only I could stop sleeping & read more :)
ReplyDeleteI've seen so many incredible reviews of this book that I know I'll have to read it sooner or later. I'm just waiting until I'm in the right mood because I've heard it's a heart-breaker.
ReplyDeleteWell, he's awake now! Good teaser.
ReplyDeleteOw! I guess there's no more thorough way to wake yourself up. Great teaser; thanks for stopping by!
