top ten blogging confessions

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we all get to exercise our OCD tendencies and come up with bookish lists.  If you’d like to play along, check out this post.

top ten tuesday

Two years ago I did a post on bookish confessions, where I shared secrets such as: I have run up $100+ library fines (it was just the once, I swear!), I skip ahead in a lot (most?!) books, and that I semi-permanently stowed 14 boxes of books at my parents’ house.  Today’s list, however, focuses on blogging confessions.  Some may surprise you, others may not… but this is about the writing itself, the so-called behind-the-scenes, rather than books directly.  Well, except in the case of #10.  I had to sneak that in there.  Even if I’ve already ‘confessed’ it multiple times!

Top Ten Blogging Confessions

1.  Of the top 10 all-time most popular posts on my blog, 4 are recipes, and NONE are book reviews.  Welp.

2. I wait until a “good” week before updating my blogging stats for sites like NetGalley and Edelweiss.  Vanity is a killer, folks.

3. Currently around 50% of my reading = romance novels, and I very rarely blog or review them.

4. Reading and reviewing graphic novels feels like cheating.  It’s so easy!

5. I signed up for the much-discussed, er… much-maligned (?!) Blogging for Books program because I want to review more cookbooks.  And no one is exactly throwing them at me right now.

6. I take any/all photos on my blog with my iPhone 4s.  I don’t own a camera, and haven’t since ~2007.

7. My best blog traffic day in any given week is Tuesday.  Thanks, Top Ten Tuesday meme friends!

8. I got my current real-life job because of skills I learned from blogging, but most days I feel like a rank amateur.  Have you seen my fellow bloggers?!

9. I hate vlogs and/or booktube videos.  I have never been able to force myself to watch one all of the way through.

10. I really do judge books by their covers.  All. The. Freaking. Time. I know I should know better by now!

What are your blogging confessions?  Or if you don’t blog, what’s your favorite from my list?

My best blogging day is Tuesday as well. I actually really like Tuesday, as I love hopping around the other blogs and discovering some new blogs! Great confessions!

Oh my gosh! I hate book videos (and videos in general) too. I'm so glad it's not just me. My highest traffic posts are also for posts you wouldn't expect. AND as a member of Amazon Vine I applaud you for joining Blogging for Books. The only reason I'm skipping is because I already bit off more than I can chew. And yay high traffic Tuesdays lol

I think the epic reads vids are the only ones I can watch, and then not usually all the way through.

Ha I judge books by the cover as well, I can't help it! Some just pop out of the page or store window so I always love them just because of that, and often I end up being really disappointed.
I update my stats about once a month because not much changes, but if I had better stats more often, I'd change them on NG more often, too :D
And I cannot really watch vlogs either, rarely ever I watch and finish any. :L
TTT is also giving me most traffic, ha :D \o/

Happy reading!

Reading and reviewing graphic novels totally feels like cheating. I've only reviewed one or two but it was just so dang easy! I really should review more in the future.

I also signed up for the Blogging for Books program and nothing has come of it.

I post vlogs to Youtube every now and then but I actually don't ever really watch them. They kind of bore me.

Great confessions!

I am totally with you on so many of these! My best days are Tuesdays and Fridays. Thanks memes! And I love that none of your top ten most popular posts are book reviews, so funny!
Great list!

I read a lot of romance novels too and don't blog about them. I have a lot of students who read my blog and don't think their parents would appreciate me very much if I started posting about those. I do link to my GR reviews in my Quarterly Round-Up posts though.

I also don't watch Vlogs. Just no.

Haha, I have totally done that good week thing for NetGalley and Edelweiss! I'll also wait until a pageviews spike to send out email requests since I want the publicists to see the spike stats >.> I've found that switching to doing a six month average is much easier for my peace of mind :D

I also have never managed to watch an entire vlog through, I just feel so awkward watching people talk and I like to skim and skip around reviews, ha!

Number 7 is definitely the case with me as well! Also, NetGalley can be so competitive, I don't blame you for waiting to update your stats!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who struggles with vlogs. I just can't do it. You'd think it'd be easier since you just sit there like a vegetable and listen, but it just drives me up a wall! Elle @ Erratic Project Junkie

I take most of the pictures in my blog using my Samsung S3! A lot of them are Instagram shots but there are also times when I share pictures from my lomo camera.

I also don't do vlogs because to be honest, I also don't like watching vlogs. I don't know why but they tend to bore me? Like I try watching them and I zone out after the first minute.

Haha your recipe post made me laugh because I also post stuff on my blog that aren't about books. Like whenever I go on a trip, I like doing an update when I get back.

You're cracking me up. I judge books by their covers too : ) I take all my photos on my iPhone 4s as well, who carries around cameras any more?

I signed up for Blogging for Books as soon as I got the email. It gives me the opportunity to review more nonfiction, which I love doing. I was already working with, and still am, a few different publicists within that publisher, so I didn't see what it could hurt.
