teaser tuesday (13)

It's Teaser Tuesday, a bookish blog meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Here's how it works:

Grab your current read and let it fall open to a random page. Post two (or more) sentences from that page, along with the title and author. Don’t give anything vital away!

“‘I thought you’d finally be safe.’

‘Safe from what?’

She met my eyes, and a flood of memories came back to me—all the weird, scary things that had ever happened to me, some of which I’d tried to forget.”

-p. 39 of Rick Riordan’s The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 1)

Good teaser! My son likes this book. :)

Carol - Definitely check it out! It was recommended to me by a kid I drive to writing class (is it weird that I'm taking book mentions from a 16-year old?), and I'm enjoying it so far. Lots of action and fun. And it's being made into a movie, so you want to read it before all that business!

Ok that sounds good!

What a cute blog name! Thanks for posting your teaser on my page.

I haven't read this book yet, but it won the Volunteer State Book Award this past year. It must be a good one.

Great teaser! Have you seen the preview for the movie? I haven't read this series yet, but with the movie coming out soon, I'll have to pick this one up

Cecelia said...

Lizzy - I DID see the preview for the film. I made a note to myself to read the books, and then forgot about it for a couple of weeks. Then last week the boy I drive to writing class (16 yrs. old) decided I needed to read this, and loaned me his copy. Put it right into my hands. So I started it through guilt, but am loving the story. Very fun, and now I can't wait to see the film!

Ah - gotta hate it when that happens! That little trigger to bring back a flood of memories. These sound particularly unwelcome.

This is a great teaser. My son is in the process of reading this book. He is trying to keep me up to date as things happen for him. I have not read it yet but hope to get to it before the movie comes out in February 2010.

I did not do a teaser this week. I am trying the Where are you? idea. If you would like please stop by and check it out.

Thanks!

Ooh it sounds like someone knows something that someone else doesn't know. I hate it when that happens to me but I love knowing stuff before others do. Guess I can't have it my way all of the time.
